Sonu Nigam may not have become an acting success story. But what is already doing the rounds is Sonu`s tantrums on the sets. He does not arrive on time. He interferes with the scripts and lines, although he insists that it is nothing more than active interest that is essential to become a thinking actor. Even after a scene goes completely haywire, he feels that he has got his act right till the director tells him that he has got every thing wrong and needs redo the thing all over again.
Unit hands in the films Sonu is working on share these stories about the singer-turned-actor who made a rather inconspicuous debut in Jaani Dushman only recently. In fact, so enraged was an unit hand with the mannerisms of this guy that he said: "The gawaiya (singer) thinks he has become Amitabh Bachchan after one release."Not that Sonu is the only guy in the industry who behaves this way. There have been countless precedents, some of which have become a part of Bollywood`s folklore.
What Sonu can possibly do is take a leaf out of the Big B`s book. The latter still comes to the sets on time, and he follows the briefs of directors like Karan Johar who are old enough to be his son. A film, this guy needs to understand, is the director`s medium. What`s even more important: a little bit of modesty never does anybody any harm. If at all, it does a world of good and makes one a better and a more complete person.
